ITP - National Trust
National trust are a charity organisation dedicated to preserving cultural and historical heritage sites across different regions.

National Trust have a multiple heritage sites which can be found on their website. Their aim is to protect and preserve these sites to ensure that people are able to visit these sites and learn about the history of these sites and also enjoy nature.
The brief for this project is to create images that can be used on posters and other advertising campaign for the national trust.
Previous Ad Campaign
When looking at previous ad campaign for national trust, the main focus is on the locations not the organisation. Showing off the location and what there is to offer and that activities you can do that are organised by National Trust them themselves. The subject of the ad campaign very from landscape and nature shots from event and portraits of people doing activities that are organised by the National Trust. This gives variety when choosing what to shoot and where to shoot. The ad campaign that stood out to me was the campaign was the images below as it focuses on the people that are involved and use the National Trust which is everyone. A key information about the National Trust is that their target audience was 20-35 year olds.
Another style I like is the image below. I find it very clean and well shot, the focus is the meaning behind it rather then the location showing that The National Trust can unlock your summer for you with multiple locations all around and in every region.
Trialling Idea
I like how the idea looks and after trialling the idea I want to take this idea further. Some things I learnt from the trialling was I think the best outcome was the National Trust logo as it has large spacing so you can make out what the image behind it is, for example when looking at the image in the middle for a keyhole it doesn't work well as it has not a lot of spacing to see what is behind it. The added benefit of using the logo for the cutout is that it will be easily recognisable as the National trust logo was well known.
Location
Due to time limitation I will have to stay close to London and look for locations near me. Listed are some locations I can visit during the project.
Box Hill
Rainham Hall
Epping Forest
Polesden Lacey
Southend-on-Sea
Planning
So my initial idea for shooting was spending 3 days at each location, 1 day for scouting and finding the best spots for shooting and the other 2 days would be to shoot which would have given enough time to get all the images that I want. However with the problem with Covid-19 and the lockdown I wasn't able to travel to my desired location so I composited and sketches of want I wanted the outcome to be and how I wanted it to look like if I was able to shoot.
A2 Landscape - Polesden Lacey
For the first A2 poster, the idea would have been to have a front landscape shot of Polesden Lacey and I would have the logo card placed in the middle of the building. The smaller images at the top would be objects and different ornaments that are located at the site and are linked to the location for example for this location I would focus on the historical status, ornaments and the garden which are the main things at Polesden Lacey. The images would be focused on them and have a tight crop around it making them the main focus.
A2 Landscape - Box Hill
For this location I wanted to have a shot of the stepping stones located at Box Hill to be the main photo which will be blocked with the logo car, like shown below. The smaller photos at this location I wanted to focus on the signpost located all around Box Hill as there are many walking trails in this location. Same as the rest the smaller photos would have been tight crops of the different sighs all around Box Hill.
A2 Portrait - Epping Forest
For Epping forest I wanted for the main photo was a long trail that would be blocked with the logo card however you can still be the distance through the cutout. The smaller photos I wanted to focus on the forest itself, so I wanted to take shots of the maps, trees and the debris left from fallen tree. The crop would be the same as the rest tight focused crop around the desired object or subject.
A2 Portrait - Rainham Hall
For this location I wanted to do it similar to Polesden Lacey's layout which was to have a front shot of Rainham Hall which would be blocked by the logo card. Similar again to Polesden Lacey the small shots I wanted to have it of objects that link to Rainham Hall for example status located inside the hall and different sculptures located around and outside in the gardens or around in the location.
A4 Brochure - Southend-on-Sea
For the posters I had 2 forests and open areas and 2 historic buildings so for the brochure I wanted to be unique and different to all the rest so I chose Southend-on-Sea. For the layout I wanted all main five photos to follow the same theme of having a photo which would be blocked with the logo card. The front cover I wanted to focus on the pier located in the main Southend which was very popular. I wanted to have the shot where I would be looking down the pier and into the distance and I would have the logo card blocking the photo however I wanted the middle of the pier to be visible through the cutout. The other four images would be shots looking at all the different aspects of Southend such as the huts located near the beach and the people walking the beachside. Each photo will follow the theme which would be having the photo blocked with the logo card. The three small photo located on the third page I wanted to be of objects located on the pier such as benches on the pier or emergence floatation devices.
Logo Card
If I was to shoot the logo card I would need a hand model for holding the card. The plan for shooting the card would be to shoot a green card as that would be the colour I want and have the model hold the card similar to the images above. Lighting would be soft box to give a soft lighting and even lighting.

Evaluation
This project has been weird and different due to Covid-19 . I wasn't able to shoot because of it and wasn't able to do the project as it was intended. However if I was to do this again I would keep a close eye on the news to see the possibility of such cases as a lock down and maybe shoot before so I have some content because currently I have no content.
